DETROIT, MI - The opportunity to participate in a 26.2-mile marathon, a half-marathon, marathon relay or 5K certainly didn't scare runners away Sunday in downtown Detroit.
More than 27,000 participated in the Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank International Marathon and seemed to enjoy all the blood, sweat and tears.
Organizers said the turnout had representatives from all 50 sates and several countries.
Ann Arbor resident Zachary Ornelas, 22, was the overall winner with a time of 2 hours, 20 minutes, 11 seconds.
Lyubov Denisova, 42, of Gainesville, Fla., won the women's race with a mark of 2:44:
